Today our niece, Joy, got married to a young man named Jim Briggs.
I got to the wedding to discover that my picture card was missing from my camera.
I have no pictures.
I am sad.
And a wee bit tired.
But I am thankful for “traveling mercies” in the miles that Mama and I drove.
And I am really, really, really, really, really, really, really, glad to be home before dark.
Oh, yes, I almost forgot. I am very glad that there were no men standing at the porcelain conveniences when I got into the wrong restroom at the Lancaster Cracker Barrel. And that is all I am going to say about that.
Joe’s Joy, I suppose. Was it in Harrisonburg? Glad you’re home too. Safe and sound.
Nope, Nel and Rose’s Joy. And it was in downtown LANCASTER — so it was only about 2 1/2 hour drive one way. It was a very small wedding — and the only reason I got to go was that I drove Mama. Otherwise, none of the aunts and uncles and cousins were invited.
LOL on your Random Restroom Snafoo! As your Uncle Eli once told my dad when he made the same mistake (only the other way around) while they were traveling together…”Well, when I think about it, half my ancestors were women!” =)
I am laughing so hard, my sides are acheing and my son is kicking. lol. The visual in my head of the look on your face when you realized the error of your restroom, is quite amusing.
I am thankful that you made it home safely! My Mom went into the wrong restroom at an airport once, and she felt very visible when she came back out after discovering the mistake! She figured she was the only Amish lady in that whole airport and everyone that saw her come out of the wrong one would recognize her for the rest of the time at the airport!
Hello! I hope you don’t mind that I stopped by your blog this evening. I am a friend of Doris Jean High, and from time to time I check out the others who comment on her blog. I am so curious about something. Yours is the second blog that I’ve seen pictures of an Aunt Frieda (I also saw her picture on Polly the Patchworker’s blog.) When I went to Lancaster Mennonite School there was a Frieda Mischler in my class and the person on the picture looks so much like her. Then I also saw a person on your blog that you called your brother Clint. Is that the Clint Yoder that went to Lancaster Mennonite? I half remember that those two were dating back then. Are they married to each other? But if she’s your brother’s wife, why do you call her Aunt Frieda? (Just thinking out loud!) If they are the ones I remember from my LMS days, feel free to ask them if they remember Jeanie Witmer who sang in Campus Chorale and Choraleers. Feel free to visit my blog at http://www.musicaljean.blogspot.com.Jean Stauffer
Hey, you were getting close to my territory! Loved your bathroom experience!
Thanks for taking time to answer my questions! What an interesting way to rediscover old acquaintances! Now I have another question. I noticed that your children go to Greenwood Mennonite School. Have any of your children ever attended the Jr. High Music Festival at Lancaster Mennonite? I teach music at Manheim Christian and take my middle school chorus there each year for that event.
I am so blessed when my site ecourages others.
So funny about the wrong restroom! Indeed very fortunate no one was using the facilities at the time.
REACH Team USA is going to be in our church Thursday evening. Do you have anyone in that group? Yikes! That restroom story could have been much worse than it was.
REACH Team USA is still in the area, I think they leave tomorrow morning. We saw quite a lot fo them this weekend, because of our transition weekend at church. They presented their program on Saturday night for the youth any anyone else who wanted to attend. We were among the anyone else. Surely enjoyed it!
HA! HA! You made me laugh this a.m. Thanks!!
I think we all have or nearly have made that bathroom mistake. Mine found a man occupied!!! I was more embarrassed than he was though because he just laughed about it as I slunk out!!!
Thanks for your comments!! I had thought about going by myself on the trip but then I thought of how much she would enjoy it and thought it would be a good memory builder!!!
