This probably doesn’t interest most of my Xanga friends, but my heart is saddened today by the death of Roger Bennett, beloved pianist for the legendary Cathedral Quartet. His many talents have enriched my life in many ways, but none so much as the way he faced his own mortality with courage and confidence in a Heavenly Father who would do all things well.  His trademark sign-off on his web page was “In His grip!”  Today, his sweet wife, Debbie signed off with this note of victory —

As for Roger, he has finally realized his ultimate goal, to be forever

IN HIS GRIP!

  1. This was the first thing I saw in my e-mail today.  It made me sad too!  It didn’t suprise me though – ’cause I knew he had been in the hospital and was very sick.  Have you ever read his “Midnight Meditations”?  He was a good writer.  Thanks for sharing.

  2. Very sad, yet what an inspiration.

  3. I knew he was in his last days but I hadn’t heard anything until I read your site.  Thanks for sharing the info.

  4. I got the email from Legacy Five this morning, and I’m saddened right along with you!  He’s been through so much in the last number of years with his leukemia, but I loved his outlook–always upbeat!  Some of those fellows we’ve followed for so long, they feel like family!

  5. it is so sad!  We always enjoyed Roger’s  music and humor!

  6. Can’t say I’m familiar with the Cathedral Quartet. Sounds like I missed out! RYC: Ryan wore contacts briefly when he broke his other glasses beyond repair. He hated them, for it felt like something was in his eyes. However, both Karen and Carla prefer (ed) them. Karen is enjoying 20/20 vision or better these days without the aid of contacts or glasses. You know, I don’t think I realized Raph wears contacts. Later…

  7. Off the subject I know but it meant a lot to be at your house today. I said to GG that it was like old times. It felt so warm just like it should. I don’t know. Thanks for everything over the last while. Things are looking up I think.
