pitchfork arm -2

Here are the damages!  Actually not too bad, if you ask me.  Not exactly pretty, but not life threatening.  And I am back in from all my chores this morning and everything went well.  I didn’t even have to use that pitchfork.  Thanks for all your concern for me!

  1. Is your tetnus shot up to date? That looks bad to me!

  2. Remember the lip????  It’s up to date!

  3. I hurt just looking at it. So Sorry! When I get hurt I really like to see a bruise so people really know it hurts. Your bruise if proof of the puddin.

  4. ouch… well… you know what they say.. a farm runs on blood, sweat and tears… I think I would trade the fork for somthing with a less dangerous end.. like a broom handle, a stick, a pvc pipe… and think of the bight side of chickens.. even though they stink… they are atleast smaller and and when they get rambunctious… they usually wont cause grevious bodily harm….be careful out there..

  5. Ouch!  Looks painful!  I’m glad you didn’t need the pitchfork today!  ~Erica

  6. My first thought, too… was “Are you up-to-date with the tetnus?
My other profound suggestion is… when you go sallying forth in the world, would you please wear an armoured suit?  Southern States, your barn… I mean you are leaving your mark erstwhile whither ye goest.. or something like that

  7. Oh, my. That looks really bad! I do hope nothing more will happen before CM and everyone else comes back home!

  8. I liked Sean’s comment … a broom handle would be a lot less lethal!  For you and CM, actually.

  9. Pleeze let us know how the evening chores go! Be safe!

  10. Wow!  I feel like I have missed out on so much since I have had three grandchildren for the eve and overnight and part of the day!  BEG, that looks like it hurts!!!!  Please, do find an instrument that inflicts a little more persuasion on the little white calf!
Having been raised on a farm I remember how contrary some cattle could be!  Old Bossey comes to mind.  She chased us!  I remember once when she chased me through the muddy barnyard and I slipped in the mud and my sudden change in position with feet in the air and my face in the mud caused her to stop in fear! Was I glad then she  had a little brain and didn’t trounce me to death!

  11. We are waitng for you to check in with us! Hope you are okay!

  12. Ouch !! I bet that hurts!   Hope you are on the mend quickly!!!

  13. Your “livestock story” reminds me of the time DH went away, taking Oldest Son along, for a few days.  I was left in charge of chickens, hogs, and herd of beef cattle.  It was a nightmare.  I don’t remember anything drastic happening with the chickens, but the sows with baby pigs got out and roamed about in the farrowing house.  I was terrified of those big “ooofy” mamas and had a horrible time getting them back in.  The electric fence failed and the herd stampeded all over the countryside wreaking havoc and mayhem.  I was just beside myself and told him he’s not allowed to go away EVER AGAIN!  He never did–at least not leaving everything to me!  =D  Glad your “owie” isn’t worse. =D

So sorry about you injury! I did not even know you had hurt yourself today at lunch, otherwise I would have offered my sympathies. Speaking of lunch, it was delicious and fun even though we were few in number. Not too much longer and everyone (including the usually absent Lemuel) will be there! love you, Jessica
