Discipleship

I gave up myself;
You gave me
Yourself
And Love, like I never
Have known.
And now, though my heart
Has learned of
Your Cross,
I know I’ll not travel
Alone.
Though disciplined now,
I’ve found in
Your Cross
The freedom my heart long
Has sought.
Not license for
Pleasure or
“Guaranteed Rights,”
But Power to be as
I ought.

  1. I like that!  An apt description of freedom … Not license for Pleasure or “Guaranteed Rights,” But Power to be as I ought.

  2. Profound and so true! By the way, did you write that? (Just in case I put that in my Bible too, I want to give credit where credit is due!)

  3. Yes, it is original — but also quite old.  I wrote it when I knew a lot more than I do now! :>}
