Last night, Certain Man came home from the office carrying a Wal-mart bag.

In the bag was a gallon size ziplock bag, containing a yellowish, creamy looking substance.

And also in the bag was a page of instructions.

(Drum Roll here, please!!!)
Now, as some of you good folks out there in Xanga-land know, this is an exceptional blessing that can be a sore trial after the third or fouth gifting. But this is my first in many years, so I am quite delighted, indeed. If any of you have a hankering for Friendship bread, just message me and let me know, and I will certainly keep you in mind when it comes time to hand it out.

Ahh, yes. The gift that keeps giving and giving and giving and giving and …….
…..and giving………I used to make 3 loaves of bread every 5 days…..maybe it wasn’t the same as your gift that ‘keeps on givin’ but I got it from a friend. It was so very good but I began to get guilty and uneasy as the 5th day came around and we didn’t need any more bread but I’d make it anyway and freeze it……..so thank you for the offer Dear Friend but I do not want the responsibility……..What is the base of your starter, mine was instant potatoes.
When I had a houseful of teenage boys, that Friendship Bread was truly a blessing. But now we’re down to two adults who need to watch our weight and our health, plus a six-year-old who doesn’t eat very much, so thanks, but no thanks!! I do still want your friendship – just without the bread!
Mmmmmmmmm friendship bread, I will take a loaf please
Wait a minute, Molly-girl. I’m not giving out the bread — I’m giving out the “starter” — which means that you would get a bag like I did, and then you have to do certain things on certain days and then separate it out and give the starter to four other people and you get to make a loaf for yourself. It’s complicated, but I would be glad to give you a bag of starter in a few days.
Yum It is good and if you are giving out the loves I will take one!! Ha ha I know I know you meant the starter alas I am to far away.
This is so funny! Just tonight I threw out the 2 bags that I had on the counter. They were supposed to have been added to 9 days ago, and I just didn’t get it done. My sister-in-law actually froze her starter, and brought it out at a later date again. We added walnuts to ours and also made them into muffins. Now I kind of wish that I still had my starter.
I haven’t had any of that since I was a single girl living in Lancaster county! I would love to have some again some day.
I’ve never had that believe it or not….I might have when I was younger, I’d have to ask mom. With that said, I know I’d forget to add things and I fear it would not go well. ~Erica
That takes me back a few years. It’s been some time since I had any. I remember it was very good. You will probably be wishing for your sons to help eat it. 🙂
It’s funny…I was just thinking about Friendship Bread a few days ago and wondering how one gets it started!
I haven’t had any in years, either. I’d take some starter if only I were closer to you!
Yes my mouth is watering just thinking about it!!! And a little secret that I did was to just take out one batch for a friend or myself and leave the reast in and make a double batch! This makes a big batch and I always froze it till I had what I wanted! But by the looks of it you have many takers! And if you have a way to get one to little old me I’ll take it! Happy baking!
Oh I misunderstood you Maryann, sorry, I will pass then, am sorry….Sounds like alot of confusing work…
Take care and love you
