Evening update:  I did get in to Dr. Rowe’s office today — and I have a hard, walking cast on my foot.  The break is a slanted break in an area that the doctor feels will heal.  He said that it will take time, but it should be okay with a hard cast and keeping it immobile.  He said that I can go to Women of Faith.   (That is, if I am careful!  Do you all hear me singing a gladsome song of praise?)  A fracture a little more in the direction of my heel and he said that I would have to have had surgery — with a plate and screws and such.  That area just won’t heal without intervention.  This area, though pokey about it, should heal just fine!

I am a gal with a very thankful heart.  The story could have been so different, and God has been so good to me.  I have also decided that there will be no heroics.  I am going to try to do as much as I can from my chair and do what the Doctors say to do.  I bet I will be bored, but I am also excited about all the stuff I can do from a sitting position.  So keep me in your thoughts and prayers, and I will try to keep you all posted!

  1. SO happy for you that you didn’t need surgery!!!    YAY, God!!!

  2. Mary Dear, Good news indeed!  I guess we can say there is sweet with the bitter.  I’m praying for you and do hope you take in the Women of Faith program.

  3. Glad it isn’t any worse for you…and hey, you might as well enjoy the “time off” while you can…read, post on xanga, etc. etc. …=)

  4. So glad you are going to be able to go even though you have to go hopping on one foot!

  5. Hugs…I look at the grace you embrace with the different circumstances in your life and KNOW thatyou have a great FAITH and are such an example for all of us.   It’s not fun to be dependant on others and be needy.  That’s just our problem.  We want to be self-sufficient.  😦    Have a Faith Full week-end!!!

  6. Oh, dear, you have had a time of it! I hope you can enjoy Women of Faith and come home refreshed and rejuvenated! I’ll be praying~

  7. I am so glad the break doesn’t need surgery.  That is good new!  Take care, however, and accept everyone’s help offered.  This just might be a time when you can gratefully receive rather than so quickly selflessly  give.

  8. Good news indeed!  And, you are such a punny person…keep us “posted.”  Get it, get it?  Heh

  9. Oh I’m so sorry all this has happened to you! Surely the devil didn’t want you to go to women of faith or lunch the other day and have all kinds of great fellowship. But you are in my prayers and i hope you get to go, and who knows, with all this “down time” you may have lots of time to sit at God’s feet!

  10. An example of Good News and Bad News! Poor girl, I am so sorry but also glad it was not more serious.

  11. Have a wonderful blessed time, so glad you don’t have to have surgery either…

  12. Glad to hear you can go to WOF and that the break wasn’t worse.  I hope you have a blessed time!

  13. Thanks so much for your cookie recipe.  I made a batch and took them to work and ended up copying the recipe for a bunch of people at work.  I used cream instead of the canned milk.  I hope you can enjoy your slowwwww time in your chair.
