Isn’t this beautiful???

It was a gift from the ladies of our church
 on this “Best Day.”

It was delivered today while I was sleeping,
and when I woke up, our
Wonderful Middle Daughter
had put them right into my line of vision.
It was a very affirming and encouraging discovery.

Thank-you, my dear sisters!

It has been a great day, dear friends.
The surgery went smoothly.
and there is much to be grateful for.
The pain level is a bit more than I had hoped,
but that is to be expected, I guess.
Dr. Spieker said that when they got into the knee
it was in far worse shape than they expected.
Something about the enamal on my bones peeling off.
“So,” he said to my attentive husband, “I took my trusty
Black & Decker drill and drilled seven holes into the bone.
We wanted it to bleed, so that it would form a scab
and that will assist in the healing.”

H-m-m-m- . . .

That sounds rather stridently invasive
to this lowly lay person.

However, He provided me with a lovely pain medication
(Percocet) and it is being quite effective indeed.  He did tell
me that I shouldn’t put “much weight” on it for several
weeks.  How is a gal of my (ahem!) “social standing” going
to accomplish that???  I do have crutches, and I plan to
follow directions carefully, but I am hopeful that when I see
him on Tuesday for follow-up he will be absolutely astounded
at how well I am doing and lift some of these unhandy
restrictions.

So here I am, sitting on my La-z-boy, updating on Middle
Daughter’s laptop.  Certain Man and the off-springin’s are
being watchful and bossy and most lovingly helpful.

I am incredibly blessed.

Thank-you, Heavenly Father!

May you continue to recover quickly.
    The flowers are beautiful.

  2. Praying for a fast recovery for you. Glad to hear you have such wonderful help.

  3. I’m so glad!!   I thought of you much today.  Alma and I agreed that it was strange not to have Bible study and wondered how you made out.   I hope you behave yourself and that you get a good night’s sleep tonight.

  4. I hope your recovery goes as smoothly as your surgery! I’m going in to have two wisdom teeth removed under general anesthesia and will be recovering for a few days as well. My restrictions involve eating soft food vs. not putting weight on my leg.

  5. I am so glad your surgery went well.  Love and blessings!

  6. I am so glad the surgery is in the past, and it went so well! May you recover fast!Miriam

  7. Beautiful – the flowers as well as the love of your family and friends and also your humor at a time like this. I should be making you smile; instead you’ve made me smile.

  10. Again, as I said before, follow your doc’s advice. Stay off of it and let it heal. Your description of what was done sounds like it was much worse than mine. I am so glad all went well and your have so many people around you to care for you. Your are blessed!

Hi MaryAnn,  I have not been “blog reading” for several days, so I was surprised to read that you had some work done on that troublesome knee.  I am wishing you well today.  Yes, it is still snowing here in north Idaho!  BUT, I hear spring is on its way!  Take care,  v.
